About
Janet Gordon
Having studied costume design at Brandeis University, Janet moved to NYC. She landed a job assisting Tony award-winning costume designer Willa Kim on the Broadway show, Sophisticated Ladies. Ms. Kim was lovingly referred to as 'the dragon lady' for her no-nonsense approach to 'getting the job done'. Janet fondly remembers being told to get a bathing suit shipped from LA, so that it would arrive by a certain time the next day. Flustered and not knowing exactly how to accomplish that, Ms. Kim stared at her and simply said, "Just do it". (Perhaps the folks at Nike knew of her!) So, Janet 'just did it', and was forever grateful for the 'get it done attitude' she learned that day.
Fully equipped to handle the needs of demanding art directors, Janet embarked on a successful career as a freelance fashion/photo stylist. Her career focus shifted when she no longer had to meet the demands of Madison Avenue, but those of her three sons!
Two of Janet's three sons were born hard of hearing, so she went back to school to become a speech-language pathologist. Janet earned her Masters from Columbia University, Teachers College. She taught for over twenty years, until it became absolutely necessary to re-enter the fashion industry.
In 2012, Janet was inspired by her first vintage handbag to create a handbag and accessories collection that infuses the allure of elegance with the cleverness of design. She believes no 'style' is more powerful than your own, AND, that a woman needs options.
