Life Lesson #3: When you’re a parent, make sure your children understand they are like little ambassadors for your family.

Oh the hot pants! The year was 1969. I was in sixth grade and I had a pair of hip hugger, (aka low rider), tan widewhale corduroy hot pants, that closed with a rawhide leather string, that zigzagged up the center where a zipper would normally be. Cute, very cute.

Life Lesson #3: In retrospect, if I were a father, I would never have allowed my 11-year-old daughter to leave the house in those! So here in lies the lesson. When you’re a parent, make sure your children understand they are like little ambassadors for your family. Their appearance is a reflection of you, not only in the way they dress, but in how they act. So be involved. You may not always be able to assert your influence as you wish to, but you should die trying.
